Approximately 18 million students are pursuing postsecondary degrees on college and university campuses across the United States. Many have faith that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior of a lost and sinful world; many—that is, millions—do not.
College is a crossroads; it's a place where a person's faith can be challenged and allowed to weaken—or be stretched and built up. And it's a place where a Christian has the potential daily to reflect the light of Jesus Christ into lives that desperately need to know Him.
Christian campus ministry offers four things to students:
-
A community within which to explore faith deeply as young adults and to grow in faith through a continued relationship with Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit;
-
An environment in which a young Christian can respond to the call of Jesus Christ to be His witnesses and to make disciples of all nations;
-
A vehicle through which a young adult Christ-follower can serve others in joyful response to God's love;
-
A means through which a young adult who is seeking spiritual truth can explore, perhaps for the first time, what it means to believe that the man Jesus was also God's Son, sent to redeem people from the consequences of disobeying God.
Christian campus ministries and ministry leaders must be properly equipped to provide these things—they need training, resources, encouragement, and prayer. The mission of Lutheran Campus Mission Association is to help fill those needs—to equip leaders to make disciples who make disciples on campus (our mission statement).
Our partners in campus ministry include Lutheran Student Fellowship and International Student Ministry, Inc. |
